Cypress Swamp Trip
When we went to the cypress swamp, we first tested the water for various things such as salinity nitrate levels, pH and turbidity. Salinity is the amount of salt in parts per thousand, and the salinity was about 1. Nitrate levels were around 0-5. pH was about 7.5 and the water was very turbid. We then learned about different paddling techniques. We tightened our life jackets and started to paddle into the water. There were many bugs, birds and alligators along the way. We stopped after awhile, ate and painted, then turned around and headed back. During the full trip we learned the 4 purposes of a wetland.
