I learned about turbidity, salinity, and pH level. Turbidity is the cloudiness or haziness of a fluid caused by large numbers of individual particles. We can use a tube and secchi disk to test how much turbidity is in the water. Refractometers measures how the light bends or refracts while in the water. The more salt, the more resistance for the light and the more it will bend. pH level measures the acidity of alkalinity of water, expresses in terms of its concentration of hydrogen ions. pH scales range from 0-14. pH of 7 is neutral, pH lower than 7 is acidic, pH higher is basic.
